This Dramatic Portrait
In the struggle between God and Mammon, the winner is obvious for greed in this director's wonderfully garish true story of the disgraced religious broadcaster and her felon spouse. Garfield acts as the greedy Jim, who states early on, “God does not want us to be poor,”. He and Tammy Faye commence profiting from the people's spiritual convictions. It's a spectacle of poor styling, excessive cosmetics and bad faith, though Jessica Chastain succeeds to depict Tammy Faye with compassion. Next Tuesday, 1.15am, Film4
